Aloha: designing a safer and more personal ride-booking experience
Aloha is a socially conscious ride-hailing platform designed to give passengers greater control, comfort, and confidence throughout their journey.

The problem
Traditional ride-booking platforms often prioritize speed but overlook important passenger concerns regarding safety, trust, and predictability. Through initial domain analysis, several recurring friction points emerged:
01 · Driver Comfort
Passengers feeling unsafe or uncomfortable with an assigned driver without options to express preference.
02 · Vehicle Security
Accidentally entering the wrong vehicle in crowded pickup zones or late at night.
03 · Driver Loyalty
Losing access to trusted drivers after a positive ride experience with no way to re-book them.
04 · Selection Fatigue
Navigating overly complicated car categories, surcharge options, and confusing booking steps.
The design goal
The challenge was to simplify the ride-booking journey without compromising safety or passenger choice. The design was guided by five core pillars:

Prioritizing passenger peace of mind with built-in safety controls at every step.
Simple to Understand
Removing clutter so first-time users navigate the interface effortlessly.
Fast to Complete
Direct 4-step booking flow from destination entry to instant driver dispatch.
Personalized Experience
Allowing passengers to request favorite drivers and share trusted contacts with friends.
Safety-focused features for a better ride
Aloha combines standard ride-booking utility with socially conscious features designed around real passenger needs:
Female-Driver Preference
Female passengers can request a female driver when that makes them feel more comfortable, providing reassurance during late-night or solo commutes.
My Driver Feature
Passengers can save drivers they have previously travelled with to their "My Driver" list, request them for future trips, and share trusted driver profiles with friends.
Four-Digit Ride Verification
A unique 4-digit security code generated for every booking ensures passengers verify they are entering the correct car before the trip begins.
Simplified Car Selection
Instead of presenting confusing car tiers, Aloha offers a clear and focused choice between basic vehicle categories (Aloha S & Aloha M).
The 4-step booking experience
The interface guides passengers through one decision at a time, removing unnecessary distractions and keeping actions predictable:
Enter Destination
The journey begins with a focused destination input field presented directly over the interactive map, removing extraneous controls.
Confirm Pickup
Passengers review and adjust their exact pickup marker over the map interface, minimizing driver pickup location errors.
Select Car Type
Compare vehicle categories (Aloha S / Aloha M) with clear upfront fare estimates, passenger capacity (1-4), and payment methods.
Book the Ride
Review final selection, fare, and payment mode before tapping the prominent booking button to initiate instant driver matching.
Design approach
Visual Hierarchy
Large headings, focused actions, and minimal supporting content guide passengers through one decision at a time.
Map-First Experience
Maps remain central to destination entry, pickup confirmation, and tracking, keeping the interface grounded in real-world location.
Action Placement
Primary buttons appear in predictable bottom positions, enabling single-handed operation without relearning controls.
Brand Identity
A vibrant pink and purple color system gives Aloha a recognizable personality while separating actions from the light map interface.
Outcome & project summary
The final concept delivers a direct four-step booking journey: Enter destination → Confirm pickup → Select car → Book ride. It combines a streamlined mobile interface with passenger-focused safety features, creating an experience that feels controlled, personal, and trustworthy.
